Don grew up on a farm in some remote village. The scars on his back were given to him by his own father, a harsh man that didn’t agree with Don courting another boy from the village.

At some point, Don found himself working for a villain known only as “the Shadow Man” while suffering from amnesia. This is where he met Chandler. Chandler had infiltrated the group under the guise of joining, but his true motivation was to try and sabotage the villain’s plans from the inside. This quickly unraveled when it became clear that the Shadow Man didn’t trust the boy, and beat him into submission more than once.

Don was the one to patch Chandler up after those run-ins, and to try and make sure that the brunette was taking care of himself despite the stress of the near suicidal mission.

When the Shadow man had another student of Chandler’s school kidnapped, Chandler stood up to the villain one final time to rescue her and get her home. Don, already crushing on Chandler by then, decided to return to the school with them despite the risk of deserting. The two have been inseparable ever since.

During the great war, an orphaned infant baby girl was brought with a handful of survivors from a neighboring town. Don was quick to take her in and care for her, the more reluctant Chandler eventually going along with it. And so Naru became part of their little family.

Right after the Great War and the raising of their new island home, Don had his hand his hands full trying to take care of Chandler. The first year or so, the blond worked doggedly to make sure they had some form of shelter in place, fearful of what might happen if Chandler had to face a winter exposed to the elements in his weakened state.

After a number of heart wrenching setbacks due to earthquakes, storms, and then dealing with a bigoted fellow survivor, the two were finally able to settle into a somewhat normal domestic life. Don works to maintain the buildings and helps with agriculture.
